We are all in-between
Maybe we are between seasons of change

Seasons overlap where I live and it’s so beautiful – and difficult – at the same time. The autumn glow gets covered under the glistening snow and the finality of change can bring challenges of cold and less sunlight. Nature moves in the flow and teaches me to let go. Embracing the beauty of the change with gratitude is most helpful. Look at how the seasons decorate one another as autumn welcomes the dressing of snow as its robe. The trees must rest and prepare for the spring. There are growth spurts ahead for all of nature, and for you and me!
Between Christmas & New Years

In Between We Can Sometimes Forget The Journey Is The Destination
So being in between can feel peculiar at times when we have our hopes, dreams, goals, plans, and so on…
With reference to how nature cycles and goes with the flow of packing nutrients in the fall and losing its foliage throughout winter, it struck me this morning that our own goals in health and wellness have cycles too. And much of the time we are just in-between. We want to be at that next place, reaching our goal so much that we try to take matters into our own hands and control every aspect that we can. And we step out of the flow of our own natural rhythms and unfortunately this can cause a tremendous rebound. When we remain in a steady, incremental process -with small changes over time- then we adapt and have a much more positive outcome. And one day we wake up to a change we can see in our lives.
What If We Embraced The Flow of This In-Between?
Many people are looking to lose pounds and currently are eating their last morsels of Christmas treats (insert whatever holiday – or not) and approach the New Year with a list of restrictions for their bodies and lives. What if we simply considered a more balanced approach? Nature rests, Nature feeds, Nature grows, Nature releases…Nature cycles.
When the weather clears, nature becomes very active. When it’s cold and slow, nature rests and conserves energy.
Don’t get me wrong, I have my own goals to reduce waist size, increase strength, and fit into a smaller size! But the yo-yo, fad diet culture is a repeating cycle that usually doesn’t provide long-term results for best health outcomes. What if instead of saying “no” to all the things we think we can’t or shouldn’t have, we instead enjoyed our journey on our timeline in our process and embraced the flow?
There is a need for goal setting, action plans, and accountability to reach for our best health, but this is a reminder that we can set the pace of our own unique journey.
From one who is “in-between” to all the rest on this journey, I’m wishing and praying for the best health and release of unnecessary stress (self-induced or otherwise) as we enter the time of 2025.
May you be Happy, Healthy and if you have need for compassionate coaching, I’m ready to hear from you.
